Inexpensive light meters need not be i??cheapi?? light meters. When it comes to accuracy and durability, the Sekonic L-398A Studio Deluxe III has been a mainstay of working photographers and cinematographers for four decades running. Small, compact, and easy to use, the Sekonic L-398A incorporates a battery-less amorphous photocell, which enables you to take accurate ambient light readings anywhere, anytime.
The Sekonic L-398Ai??s swivel head allows you to hold down the metering button and i??walk the seti?? to check light levels. Release the button, and the needle locks down the meteri??s analog display needle for easy-to-read exposure calculations. Exposures are displayed for both still and cine applications.
Incident measurements can be taken with the over 180-degree Lumisphere for general readings of three-dimensional objects, or with the Lumidisc selective area readings, measuring the lighting ratios between highlights and shadow areas or light falling on flat-field objects such as artwork, measurements outdoors or under bright studio lights.
For reflected readings, a flat Lumigrid replaces the Lumisphere. If you plan on shooting with a fixed ISO and shutter speed, an optional Slide Set (Direct Reading Slides) that make it easier to take readings in fast-paced shooting scenarios. The Sekonic L-398A Studio Deluxe III makes an ideal prime or back-up meter for still or motion picture shooters.

Since its introduction, Sekonici??s L-358 Flash Master has become the best-selling digital flash meter in its class. Weather-sealed against the nastiest of working conditions, the L-358 delivers dead-nuts accurate flash and ambient light reading in both incident and reflected modes.
For mixed lighting scenarios, the L-358 displays the combined exposure values of both flash and ambient light sources, including the percentage of flash in total exposure in 10-percent increments. Dual ISO buttons allow for quick exposure factoring when working with two differing film speeds, film and Polaroids, or other situations where comparison readings are desired.
The head of the L-358 swivels 270-degrees allowing you to i??walk the seti?? while maintaining constant visual contact with the LCD display. An indigo, backlit LCD screen with large text and icons allows for easy referencing under all lighting conditions.
Incident readings of three-dimensional subjects are taken using the Lumisphere, which can be retracted for selective, narrower-field readings such as contrast ratios for flash lighting. For reflective readings, simply replace the Lumisphere with the Lumigrid (included), which reads the center 54-degrees of the scene. For reflected spot metering, 1, 5, and 10-degree viewfinder spot attachments are available as optional accessories. Up to nine exposure readings can be stored and i??taggedi?? on the LCDi??s analog scale. Electronic flash exposures can be taken wirelessly or with a PC cord. Plug in the optional Sekonic RT-32 Radio Transmitter Module and you can wirelessly trigger any PocketWizard-enabled flash system within a 100i?? range.
The Sekonic L-358 displays an f-stop range of f/1.0 to f/90.9, and a shutter speed range of 30-minutes to 1/8000th-of-a-second (1/1000th in Flash mode), both of which can be displayed in full, half, and third-stop intervals to mirror your camerai??s exposure display. When set to i??fulli??, the exposure is displayed in tenth-of-a-stop increments with repeat accuracy of +/- 0.1 EV.
For motion picture applications, the L-358 calculates cine readings from 2 to 360 frames-per-second. As with all Sekonic meters, the Sekonic L-358 Flash Master includes a 3-year warranty and the best customer support youi??re ever likely to find.

The pocket-sized Sekonic L-308S FLASHMATE is the smallest and lightest digital light meter in the Sekonic line-up. Designed to read ambient or flash exposures in either reflected or incident modes, the L-308S delivers accurate exposure readings in full, half, or third-stop increments to mirror the exposure displays of most popular cameras. When set to full-stop mode, exposures are displayed in tenth-stop increments with a repeat accuracy of +/- 0.1 EV.
Reflected readings capture at a light receiving angle of about 40-degrees, or slightly wider than the viewing field of a normal lens. For incident readings, a small, built-in Lumisphere slides over the silicon diode sensor. For flat-field incident readings, a Lumidisc (included) snaps over the sensor for metering flat artwork or measuring contrast and/or exposure ratios within a scene. Electronic flash exposures can be taken with or without a PC cord.
Exposure data is displayed on the LCD screen, which has been redesigned to emulate the look and feel of the LCD on the bigger-brother' Sekonic L-358 flash meter. Exposure data and related information is displayed using large type and easy-to-read icons. At ISO 100 ambient light can be read over an EV range of 0 to 19.9 in both incident and reflected mode. Flash exposures are displayed from f/1.4 to f/90.9 (or about f/124). ISO sensitivity is set from 3 to 8000 in third-stop increments. For cinema applications, the L-308S can be programmed to display exposure times from 8 to 128 frames-per-second.
